Obituary for William "Bill" Rottman

-- William ‘Bill’ Rottman
1930 - 2017

William ‘Bill’ Rottman, 86, entered into heaven January 21, 2017, at LifeCare Hospice, Wooster. Aside from marrying his high school sweetheart, Mabel (Yoder) Rottman, this was the happiest day of his life.
Born May 29, 1930 in Benton, Ohio to Rotis and Lela. Bill Rottman spent his childhood in Holmes County; he carried those memories close and shared them throughout his life. Surrounded by siblings, he enjoyed lively adventures and was never one to back down from a challenge.

An avid athlete, Bill graduated from Berlin High School. He played sports, built buildings, and loved his family with the same high level of intensity. He taught his grandchildren “good, better, best… never get complacent.”

Married for 66 years, he and his wife did everything together. Supporting three generations of family, he was the most loyal of fans. As the construction superintendent for Triway High School, Bill was most proud that his children and grandchildren all graduated from there. He proudly served 30 years on the football chain gang as a loyal Triway Athletic Booster.

He worked for many years as a superintendent for Freeman Construction. Bill was a proud member of the Ohio Bricklayers for 64 years. He and his wife were co-owners of Bilnon and CCM Corp. As he retired, he enjoyed winters in Sarasota, Florida where he directed from his ‘office’, a garden bench.

He and his wife were founding members of Church of the Saviour in Wooster, establishing a legacy of faith in Jesus Christ for the entire family.

In addition to his wife, Mabel, are his children; Rick (Stacy) Rottman, Debbie (Jack) Miller, and Wendy (Stan) Starr of Wooster; grandchildren, Kirk (Christy) Miller, Brooks (Kimberly) Miller, Lisa (Mark) Kotasek of Connecticut, Jordan (Zach) Miller of South Carolina , Adam (Kate) Starr, Ericka (Jason) Hitchcock, Nicki (Cory) Snyder, Linc (Kalie) Rottman, and Jock (Caitlin) Rottman, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-grandson arriving in February.

Sisters, Mary Hoover of Shreve, Marge Henderson and brother Tom (Erika) Rottman of Millersburg, sister-in law Barb Rottman of Maryland, Brother -in -law Carl (Sue) Yoder, sisters –in- law Betty Ebersole and Judy (Ward) Stutzman, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack Rottman.
