Goldie M. Nelson, age 90, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster following a short illness.

She was born on November 28, 1927 to Harry (Gladys Shenefield) Knotts in Cabin Creek, W.Va.

She married Edwin F. Nelson on September 27, 1945 in Greenup, Ky. He went home to be with the Lord on November 5, 2007.

After Edwin returned from the Army, they both ran the Nelson family farm near Salem Center, Ohio (Meigs County).

After moving to Wooster in 1959, she then worked for the Apple Creek Developmental Center as a Stock Control Clerk for 30 years before her retirement.

Goldie was a member of Apple Creek United Methodist Church; she enjoyed sewing and camping; loved playing cards and games and mostly spending time with her family which also included attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sports activities.

She is survived by her children, Paul (Mary) Nelson of Summersville, W.Va. and Peggy (Lee) Kuhns of Apple Creek, Oh.; grandchildren, Tracy (Tim) Worrix, Melissa (Mark) Lemon and Julie (Doug) Brown; great-grandchildren, Amy, Drew, Grace, Max, Peyton, Grant, Maggie and Lucas; great-great-grandchildren, Mya, James and Mayson; a sister, Nancy (Tim) Hall of Whitehall, Oh. and a brother, Kenny (Vivian) Knotts of Vinton, Oh.; sisters-in-law, Marge (John) Knotts of Salem Center, Oh. and Kathy (Lee) Knotts of Thornville, Oh.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her siblings, John Knotts, Jean Graham, Bob Knotts and Vernon Lee Knotts.

Services will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Apple Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Kenneth Curren officiating followed by interment at Apple Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home and one hour prior (9:00 - 10:00 a.m.) to services at the church on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to either: Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Oh. 44691 or Apple Creek United Methodist Church, 269 W. Main St., Apple Creek, Oh. 44606.
