Ishmel R. "Ish" Heflin, age 86, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Friday evening, February 5th, 2010 at Wooster Community Hospital following a long illness. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Rev. Dean Hammond and Rev. John Cook officiating with interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wooster. He was born on February 27, 1923 in McHenry, Ky.to Clyde and Lela (Whittingham) Heflin and moved from Ky. to Wooster in 1954. He and his 11 other siblings were all born and raised in the same family farm house in Kentucky where they primarily grew wheat and tobacco. He worked for the Timken Co. for 27 1/2 years before retiring in 1983; was a member of the Church Of Christ in Wooster; was a well known painter of buildings throughout the area; was an avid hunter and gun enthusiast; enjoyed gardening and especially spending time with family and close friends. He is survived by 3 daughters, Lynda and her husband, Bill of Naples, Fla., Diane Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., and Karen (Mike)Cline of Mansfield, OH.; a son, Randy (Barb) Heflin of Lakeville, OH.; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 4 brothers, Ivan Heflin of Denver, CO., Drexell (Maxine) Heflin of Portage, IN., Alton (Betty) Heflin of Madisonville, Ky. and Walton Heflin of Hartford, Ky.; twin sisters, Edith (Curtis) Clark of Wooster and Edath Kessinger of Naples, Fla.; In addition to his parents an loving wife, he is preceded in death by 4 brothers, Willie, Richard, Roy and Vernie Heflin and a sister, Ruby Heflin and a great-grandson, Aaron Sweeney.
