Jack Laverle Snyder, age 88, of Shreve, entered into rest, Sunday morning, February 7th, 2010 in Loudonville following a long illness.
Funeral services will be Friday, 11:30 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Rev. Jim McMillen officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by American Legion Post #155 of Holmesville following services.
Visitation will be Thursday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Garfield Lodge #528 Masonic Services will take place at 5:30 p.m.
A private family committal memorial service will take place at the Prairie Twp. Cemetery in Holmesville.
Memorial contributions may be either made in lieu of flowers or contributions to: Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.

He was born on September 26, 1921 in Holmesville, Ohio to Enos and Letta (Miller) Snyder.
He graduated from Holmesville High School in 1940 and during high school was very active in baseball and basketball.
He served as President of Alumni Association of Holmesville; served in the Caribbean Defense Command in the U.S. Army.
He retired from Freeman Construction Company in 1984 after 35 years of service.
He was an avid Triway High School boys basketball fan and for years attended all of the games both at home and away.
He was also a life member of Melvin McClure Post #155 Holmesville American Legion serving as Commander and Sgt at Arms. He was faithful to attend every National Convention all over the United States and Hawaii as an Ohio Delegate.
He loved the American Legion and considered the members as part of his extended family. He was credited to be chosen for Master Of Ceremonies for Holmesville Memorial Day services & Holmesville Citizen of The Year in 2001 & was Post # 155 Man Of The Year in 2009.
He was also a member of the V.F.W. in Shreve; 32nd Degree Mason of Shreve, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Ohio # 40/8; Eagles Club # 2418 of Millersburg and Shreve Farmers Sportsman Club.
He is survived by 3 sons, Roy "Butch" Snyder and his friend, Mary Hites, John (Jeannine) Snyder and Eric (Joanne) Foutty all of Shreve; 3 daughters, Jackie Teter (Lou Solomon), Barb (Dennis) Bowser all of Loudonville and Cindy Kain of Wooster; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 1st wife, Maybelle Wholford; 2nd wife, Marge Snyder; daughter, Ruth Barnett; 4 grandsons, Brannon Snyder, Colt Shoup, Todd Stanton and Mike Root; sisters, Evalyn Wilson, Esther Lemasters; brothers, Billy, Marion and Herbert Snyder.
The family would like to extend to offer a special thanks to Deb Cline for producing a video honoring Jack as Man Of The Year and to Lou Solomon for all the time and special care he gave to Jack.
