Obituary:
Algerd V. "Al" Banones, age 92, of Bedford, Ohio, passed away, Monday afternoon, February 8, 2010 at Horn Nursing Center in Wooster following a lengthy illness. A Rite Of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 12:30 p.m. at St. Martin Of Tours Church,14600 Turney Rd. Mapel Hts., Ohio 44137 with Rev. Luigi Miola officiating. A gathering of family and friends will take place following the Mass at 660 Wyleswood Dr., Berea, Ohio 44017. Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster, Ohio is handling arrangements. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to: the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) 1655 West Market St., #340 Akron, Ohio 44313. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at: www.custerglenn.com. He was born on May 30, 1917 in Donora, PA. to William and Louise (Arzig) Banones. He served during in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Lois May Fields on September 16, 1950. She passed away in 1998. He previously worked as a Medical Photographer for St. Vincent's Charity Hospital in Cleveland; He most recently worked for TRW as a Metal Technician; was a very active member of St. Martin of Tours Church in Maple Hts., enjoyed photography and pursued this in many capacities throughout his life and was a long time member of the Western Reserve Camera Collectors Club. He is survived by a son, Mark W. (Kathleen) Banones of Wooster; a daughter, Ellen David of Thomasville, Ga. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Banones.
