Obituary for Claude Burgess "TOGETHER AGAIN" Daugherty

Claude Burgess Daugherty, age 94, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 28, 2013 at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster where he was surrounded by his family.
Services will be Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster with Pastor Ron Frizzell officiating. Interment will follow at Reedsburg Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 - 8 at the funeral home.

He was born on June 2, 1919 in Flint Springs, Ky. to Peter and Rebecca (Hines) Daugherty and has been a resident of Wooster for most of his life.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from October 15, 1942 - October 10, 1945.
Burgess married Margaret Fordyce on July 12, 1941. She went home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2005 in Wooster.
He was owner/operator of the former CB Daugherty& Sons in Wooster for several years before taking a job in Mansfield where he was a Journeyman for GM. He had worked as a welder for Gerstenslagers Co. in Wooster before moving to Shelby, Ohio where he was Owner/Operator of Shelby Tool & Manufacturing Co. for several years. He then moved to Michigan and then to Salem, Ohio for GM for several years before retiring in 1982.
For several more years he worked for Midwest Wood Products and then with Curry Lumber Co. in Wooster.
He was a very active member of Wooster Church of The Nazarene and was very involved which included, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, on the church board and instrumental with helping to build the first Nazarene church in Wooster.
He was very active in Junior Achievement, loved wood working and mostly enjoyed loving and spending time with family. Everyone always commented on his pleasant smile.
He is survived by his children, Sandy Bower, Randy (Nancy) Daugherty, Ruth (Don) Daye, Steve Daugherty and Sherri (George) Grande all of Wooster; 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great- grandchildren; a brother, Bill Daugherty of Wooster.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Butcher, a brother, Ira Daugherty and 3 sisters, Ethel, Edna Mae and Marie, an infant grandson and and infant great-granddaughter.
