Obituary for Anna "Carolyn" Smetzer

"TOGETHER AGAIN"

Anna "Carolyn" Smetzer, age 95, of Wooster passed away, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Danbury Woods Assisted Living Community in Wooster following a period of declining health.

She was born in Cameron, Missouri on September 20, 1925 to Vernon and Cecil (Wiley) Todd.

She was a graduate of Shreve High School and has been a lifelong resident of the area.

Carolyn married Dale E. Smetzer on March 4, 1945 in Wayne County. He passed away on January 18, 2019.

She previously worked for the former Freedlander’s Dept. Store in Wooster and for many years, helped her husband with his business as a bookkeeper for over 35 years.

She was a member of Shreve United Methodist Church; served with the Board of Elections as a judge and loved to travel and collect antiques throughout the years. She mostly loved being a devoted homemaker and spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Carolyn is survived by her sons, Terry C. (Julia) Smetzer of Dublin, Ohio and Gary D. (Shirley) Smetzer of Pataskala, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Renee (Neil) Britton of Pataskala, Ohio, Alex (Ashley) Smetzer of Hilliard, Ohio, Adam (Stacey) Smetzer of Grove City, Ohio, Sarah (Todd) Fox of San Francisco, CA., and Derek Smetzer of Navarre, Ohio; 7 great-grandchildren, Carson and Logan Britton, Aubrey, Emma, Maxwell, Dylan and Kourtnie Smetzer; a brother-in-law, Richard (Donna) Smetzer and a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Todd all of Wooster and many friends.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Larry R. Smetzer.

There will be no public services or a visitation at this time.

A private service will take place at the convenience of the family with burial at Wooster Cemetery on October 27th.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.
