Obituary for Carol Ann Mullens (Wells)

Carol Ann Mullens, age 71, of Wooster, passed away, Friday, May 21, 2021 at Akron Specialty Hospital in Akron following an extended illness.

She was born in Wooster to Francis and Fern (Longbine) Wells and has been an area resident for most of her life.

After graduating from Waynedale High School, she worked for Rubbermaid in Wooster, in a foundry in Independence,MO, she also worked for the former Apple Creek Developmental Center for many years and then as a Caregiver with a group home in Apple Creek before her retirement after 17+ years of service.

She had previously lived in both the Kansas City and Independence areas of Missouri for a short period of time.

Carol had a passion to play Bingo, enjoyed gardening, crocheting and was a NASCAR fan. She loved putting together puzzles, and camping. Her favorite holiday was Labor Day because of celebrating an annual family reunion each year. She loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Prentice (Justin Santmyer) of Wooster and Vonn Thomas “Tommy” (Rachel) Malcuit of Concordia, MO.; grandchildren, Michael Prentice, Jr. , Carrie (Jasper) Sampson, Crystal (Bobby) Bornson, Andrew (Quinta Kennedy) Prentice, Angel (Dustin) Malcuit, Christopher Malcuit, Felicia (Jesse) Malcuit, and Alizabeth Malcuit; great-grandchildren, Alexander Bornson, and John, Dustin, Jr. and Lyndzi and expecting 2 more to be due this year; a brother, Robert Wells of Shreve and sisters, Mary (Dale) Renker of Holmesville, Margie ( Orvie) Koon of Wooster and Donna (Denny) Johnson of Wooster; her special friend, William Graham of PA.; her best friend, Carol Hofstetter of Sterling, OH.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Kerns and her long-time boyfriend, Rodney Kirkpatrick.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 - 8 pm at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr. in Wooster.

Services will be Thursday, 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Arnie Kauffman officiating. Visitation will also be one hour ( 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm) prior to services.
