Obituary for Cheryl Lynn McCumbers (Horst)
Cheryl Lynn McCumbers, age 68, of Orrville, entered into rest, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Wooster Community Hospital following her courageous battle due to a period of declining health. Her loving family was by her side.
She was born on April 24, 1951 in Wooster, to Donald Ray and Maxine (Smith) Horst.
She graduated from Waynedale High School in 1969 and has been a Wayne County resident for all of her life.
Cheryl married Denver P. McCumbers at East Chippewa Church of The Brethren in May, 1995. He survives.
She worked as a Nurses Aide for Brenn-Field Nursing Home for 27 years. She was a member of East Chippewa Church Of The Brethren where she also belonged to The Women's Fellowship Group. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing and doing crafts but she mostly loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Brenda Deeter of Orrville; her grandsons, Douglas, Michael and Joseph Skinner and several great grandchildren; her siblings, Donald (Betty) Horst and Stewart (Ursula) Lehman all of Wooster and Karen (Richard) Horst of Smithville; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Charles C. Deeter, Jr., a brother, Mark "Doc" Lehman, and her step-father, Randall Lehman.
Services will be Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at East Chippewa Church Of The Brethren, in Orrville with Pastor Brad Kelley officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) at the church.
