Obituary for Christopher R. "Chris" Close

Christopher (Chris) Ryan Close age 41 of Houston, TX, formerly of Dalton, OH passed away unexpectedly on
Saturday, September 4, 2021 in Houston.

He was born on March 27, 1980 in Orrville, OH to Nancy (Reynolds) Close who loved him with all her heart. Chris attended Dalton Local Schools through his sophomore year and graduated from the Wayne County Vocational School in Carpentry. He worked in many restaurants in Ohio and TX. While living in Houston worked at a skateboard park, screen printing shop and his last place of employment was Avant Garden Event Center in Houston.

When Chris was young, he was active in sports, especially little league baseball, football and he loved skateboarding. He learned his love of the outdoors and hunting from his brother Steve Close. He also did a lot of cooking with his sister, Cathy (Close) Chenevey. He loved music from a young age and throughout his life. In Houston, for 5 years, 4 days a week, Chris alongside best friend Tracy Hamblin, volunteered and cooked meals for Food Not Bombs. He loved cooking, hugging, music, beekeeping and gardening. Most importantly, Chris was a wonderful dad to all three of his kids and he was a kind and loving person.

He is survived by his daughter Credence Close and her mother, Tracy Hamblin and her children Felix and Anastasia (Grey) of Texas. Siblings Cathy (Close) Chenevey and husband Les; Steve Close of both of
Wooster, OH; Steve Yoder of Dalton, OH and Kevin Yoder (Krissy) of Orrville, OH; Special Uncle and Aunt,
Rodger and Helen Mock of Akron; cousins Kelley, Wendy, Char and special cousin/friend Josh Land;
Girlfriend Johanna Carrizales and many friends in Ohio and Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy (Reynolds) Close and father Daniel Yoder, grandparents Bob and Irene Smeltzer and Abe and Verba Yoder.

A private memorial service will take place at Liberty Baptist Church, in Massillon, OH. at the convenience of the family.
