Obituary for Danny R. "Doc" Daugherty

Danny R. "Doc" Daugherty, age 67 of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25th, 2021 at Wooster Community Hospital following a very brief illness.

He was born on August 9, 1953 in Wooster to William Robert and Deloris Evelyn (Amos) Daugherty and has been a lifelong resident of the area.

He served in the US Army from October 21, 1972 - October 20, 1978 and then received his Associates Degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.

Dan had previously worked for Wooster Office Supply for over 40 years in various management positions. He worked at Elder- Beerman in a managerial capacity until they closed, and currently was employed by Kohl's.

He was a life-long member of the Wooster Nazarene church where he served in many capacities. This included being in charge of Athletic Ministry, Upward Basketball, ushering and greeting, and serving on the church board for many years.

He had a talent for creating different types of crafts for he and his family. He could repair anything, was a self-taught home re-modeler, and enjoyed landscaping. He was also an avid sports fan and loved to compete!

Dan is survived by the love of his life, Sherry L Daugherty of Wooster, Ohio; his children, Ashley Lynn Daugherty of Columbus, Ohio and Ryan (Kelsey) Daugherty of Brunswick, Ohio; a brother, James William (Esther) Daugherty of Shreve and sisters, Elaine (Paul) Lehman and Yvonne (Ken) Wise all of Wooster; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

His parents preceded him in death.

Memorial services will take place on Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. at Wooster Nazarene Church, 3100 Oak Hill Rd., in Wooster with Pastor Nathan Ward, officiating. Military rites will then be followed by the 555th Honor Detachment of Wooster.

A private interment has taken place at the convenience of the family.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
