Obituary for David Owen "Dave" Sollenberger

David O. "Dave" Sollenberger, 60, beloved husband of Cresanne (nee Pope) for 29 years, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 1, 2021 at his home in Doylestown. He was born on January 15, 1961 in Orrville to Donald and Thelma (Strite) Sollenberger.

After graduating from Smithville High School, Dave attended McPherson College and Kansas State University, where he honed his skill on the potter's wheel. He later taught pottery at Wayne Center for the Arts, made pottery at Hale Farm & Village, participated in the annual Yankee Peddler Festival, and demonstrated pottery at Smithville Community Historical Society's Pioneer Village. One of his greatest joys was singing with the East Chippewa Church of the Brethren Vocal Band. Dave's life was "filled with joy" and he was known for his dry, quirky sense of humor. A skilled chef, Dave loved preparing meals for large gatherings and events for his family.

In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by his brothers Harold (Ellyne), Dale (Julie), James (Jennifer), and Jeffrey (Ronni) Sollenberger, many nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis (Melanie).

Per his wishes, Dave was cremated. His family will hold a celebration of life on Friday, October 8, 2021, at The Pines, 1319 Millborne Rd, Orrville Ohio 44667 from 2p - 5p. Please bring a funny Dave story to share!
