Obituary for Del Roy Woodring

Del Roy Woodring, age 66 of Overton, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton. His family was by his side.

He was born on March 30, 1956 in Cadiz, Ohio to David Abraham and Jeanne Louise (Delamater) Woodring.

Del married Laura Zosia Gatz in 1981 in Wooster. She survives.

He previously had worked for the former Rubbermaid and later for Tractor Supply as Warehouse Manager.

Del was a member of Congress Community Church; enjoyed spending time outdoors including fishing, hunting and gardening. Music was a large part of his life and playing the guitar was his main instrument to play. He also played piano, flute and enjoyed the drums when he had the opportunity. He wrote many songs, directed a church choir for years and played in numerous bands, one of which he called "Rising Son". His three children now carry on his legacy of music. He mostly loved spending time with his family and especially his grand daughters.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Roy (Erin) Woodring of Wooster, Sarah (Tyler) Gentry of Wooster and Dylan Woodring of Columbus, Oh.; 4 grandchildren, Avery Rose, Reagan McKenzie, Ellie Jeanne and Maddie Lynn; his siblings, Dana (El) Woodring of Mansfield, David (Ginny) Woodring of Killbuck, Jill (Gary) Rodrick of Aurora, Oh. and Jane (Mike) Trudick of Charlotte, N.C.; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; and his faithful canine companions, "Lincoln" and "Thor".

His parents preceded him in death.

Services will take place on Saturday, 11:00 am at Wooster Nazarene Church, 3100 Oak Hill Rd., in Wooster with Pastor Nathan Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Congress Cemetery in West Salem.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, from 5 - 8 pm in the church fellowship hall.
