Obituary for Delores Lee "Grandma D" Smith (Osler)

Delores Lee "Grandma D" Smith, age 79 of Wooster, Ohio, and formerly of Apple Creek, went to be with the Lord peacefully on October 25th at West View Healthy Living in Wooster.

She was born on October 10,1942 to Harold William Osler and (Emma) Lena Phelps in Cambridge Ohio.

Delores had previously worked as an Activity Therapist at the former Apple Creek Developmental Center for over 30+ years.

She was devoted to everyone who she had cared for over the years and thought of them as part of her family with a loving heart and she was also dedicated to her family and friends. She was also known to be a "True child of God" and dedicated her life to him and awaited the day of walking hand and hand with God into the Kingdom of Heaven. Delores will always be remembered for her caring and loving heart and always thought of others before herself.

"Grandma D" loved going to the kids sporting events and watching them show at the county fairs or just having them visit her at home and coloring pictures together. She loved spending time with her friends playing cards and lunch dates with "The Crew"
She was a huge Cleveland Indians fan and didn't hardly miss a game either on tv or on the radio and collected Red Birds and many other collectibles.

She is survived by and will always be loved by her family including her children, Chuck Miller​ ​(Darlene Tish) of Wooster, Becky Miller​ ​(Bill Geib) of Big Prairie and Jeff Smith of Wooster; 5 grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren including, David and Mel Compston Jr. , Kaylee,​ ​Brooke and Jacob of Apple Creek, Shon​, Corrinna Compston and Shiloh of Cincinnati, Matt and Caitlin Compston, Kadi,Owen and Aaron of Apple Creek, Nick Compston of Urichsville, Amanda & Mike Thomas​,​ Lena​, Dillin of Warsaw and her life long​,​ best friends, Diana Bragg and Betty Babbs who were always there for Delores.

​In addition to her parents​, she is preceded in death by her daughter Tamara Lee​ ​(Miller) Compston.

Delores Had a strong belief in charity and memorial contributions may be made In lieu of flowers to either Relay For Life, Apple Creek Fire Dept. Ohio's Hospice Life Care or the charity of the donor's choice.

It was her previous wish that there be no public services.

A private inurnment will take place at Apple Creek Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
