Obituary for Donna Mae Wagner (Irwin)

Donna Mae Wagner, age 88, of Wooster, passed away, Friday, November 26, 2021 at Glendora Health Care Center in Wooster following a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born on June 3, 1933 in Holly, Michigan to John and Alice (Flewelling) Irwin.

Donna married Donald J. Wagner on October 19, 1951 in Holly, Michigan. He passed away on November 3, 1996 in Akron.

She moved from Yorktown, Indiana to Wooster in 1972 and worked at Melrose Elementary School Cafeteria.

Donna also loved and missed her student teaching through adult basic education where she helped others to obtain their GED; volunteered at Trinity United Church Of Christ "Breakfast Club"; always loved to grow her flowers, walking, visiting others and baking for everyone. She enjoyed listening to music; was an avid traveler who also enjoyed going on cruises and was a former member of Blue Star Mothers of America. Her most recent and favorite thing to do, was being a great-grandmother to Logan until Alzheimer's then unfortunately robbed her of her life.

She is survived by her son, David J. (Becky V.) Wagner of Wooster; a daughter, Mary Jo Runyon of Smithville; granddaughters, Atalanta "Attie" Ross, Elizabeth Ross and a great-grandson, Logan Daniel Gregory Smith; a brother, Gary (Donna) Irwin of Swartz Creek, Michigan; sister, Ida "Jean" Irwin of Ionia, Michigan; many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Paul D.Wagner and brothers, John and William Irwin and all the others that went before her. One day, we will all meet again.

A graveside service of inurnment will take place on Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at Wooster Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Kevan Franklin officiating.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored to serve the family.
