Obituary for Dorcas M. Gable - Ross (Ressler)

Dorcas M. Gable - Ross, age 106, of Wooster, entered into rest on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Accord Care Community in Orrville after a period of declining health.

She was born in Indiana to Joseph and Mary (Wenger) Ressler and has been a Wayne County resident for most of her life.

She married Rolland Ross in June 1990. He entered into rest on January 13, 2000.

Dorcas had previously worked for the former William Annat Co. in Wooster for many years. After the death of her first husband, she volunteered in Voluntary Service for two years in Eureka, IL where she was a Chaplain and Craft Director at a large nursing care facility. When she completed her time in VS she taught crafts from her home in the Wooster area where she made porcelain dolls and other crafts.

Dorcas taught Sunday School, worked with youth, and lead Bible studies in her younger years .As she grew older she continued to write letters and made calls of encouragement. She always enjoyed doing many different kinds of crafts including ceramics, painting, pencil sketching, and porcelain. She was a long time member of Salem Mennonite Church in Kidron.

She is survived by her children, Wava (Eldon) Kornhaus of Kidron, OH., Donald (Mabel) Gable of Dalton, OH., Evangeline (Frank) King of Waynesburg, PA. Phyllis (Eric) Mitchell of Parker, PA., and Timothy (Margret) Gable of Laguna Niguel, CA.; step-children, Richard Ross of Peyton, CO, Roger Ross of Dove Creek, CO., and Alicia Ginther of Wooster, OH.; 17 grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren; a brother, Ellis Ressler of Orrville and a brother-in-law, Joseph Kotva of Cleveland.

In addition to her parents and second husband, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul M. Gable; a son-in-law ,Gerald Opp; a step-son-in-law, Allen Ginther, an infant grandson, Craig Kornhaus and a great-grandson, Tyler King; 7 sisters, Mable Burkhart, Retha Killian, Edna Brubaker, Inez Brubaker, Evelyn Taylor, Marjorie Kotva and Mary Ressler; 2 brothers, Paul Ressler and Earl Ressler.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28 at Salem Mennonite Church, 3363 Zuercher Rd. in Dalton with Pastor Kevin Himes officiating. A Fellowship meal for family and friends will immediately follow the services at the church.

Burial will then commence at Maple Grove Memorial Park ( Salem Mennonite Church Cemetery ) in Wooster at 1:30 p.m.

Visitation will be one hour prior (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) prior to services at the church.
