Obituary

Doyle "Rich" Miles, age 80, of Wooster, entered into rest on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Avenue of Wooster following a period of declining health.

He was born on August 17, 1940, in Hookersville, W.V., the oldest son of Doy and Myrtle (Milam) Miles.

He learned early the definition of hard work.

Upon graduating from Nicholas County in 1959, he moved to Wooster and began working at Fabricators.

Shortly after, he enlisted in the Army and served honorably from 1961 - 1965; he was also a member of the Holmesville American Legion.

He married Elsie Muller on May 6, 1967 and built a family that continues to love him beyond measure.

He made his life in the construction industry having worked for Lytle, C.A. King & Son's and finally with Bogner Construction from which he retired in 1995. In his many years in construction, he formed lasting and wonderful friendships that he cherished his entire life.

He was a man that reminded you, your word is your bond, you always give an honest days work, and NEVER give anyone the opportunity to question your character.

He had a unique talent for blessing people with nicknames, and let me tell you, it was truly a gift.

He earned the nickname, "Mother Hen" from his siblings because he never missed the check-ins.

He never met a stranger and was the first person to help you when you needed it.

He is missed by many and loved dearly. You can still hear him say, "Come See Me"!

He is survived by his children, Cara, Donnie (Carla), Bret (Tish), and Misty Miles; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; his siblings, Neva (Jackie) Rose, Charles (Kathy) Miles, William Miles and Nancy (Gary) Sprague; many loved nieces and nephews and countless friends.

He was met in heaven by his parents, sisters Naomi Sipple, Nina Rose and brother, Okey Miles.

In keeping with Rich's wishes, there will be no calling hours or public services and a private family celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or go online to: woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.

Uncle Rich remembered EVERYTHING! He knew every birthday, anniversary and how old all the kids were; his mind never forgot a detail.
As a recipient of one of his famous nicknames, I can vouch that you were teased mercilessly and loved fiercely by the man. He had a gruff exterior and a heart of pure gold. We'll all miss him and Heaven just got a little rowdier...

I worked with Richard at Bogner Construction during the early 1990’s. Spent a lot of time in the truck with him traveling to and from job sites, including Deleware, Ohio, and a most memorable project in Hemlock, Ohio for Southern Local Schools In 1992-1993 where we not only worked together but also lived In a rental house with several other fellow Bogner employees. He was a very special man who I respected for his work ethic and perseverance. It was an honor to spend some of my life experiences with him. My condolences to the family.
