Obituary for Edith "Edy" Pyers

Edith "Edy" Pyers, age 96, of Wooster, OH went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Smithville-Western Care Center following a recent decline in health. Born 1923 in Orrville, Oh to George W. "Bill" and Mabel (Caillet) Forrer.

Married Albert G. "Al" Pyers February 1, 1946, whom she met at the Wayne County Fair, and he preceded her in death in 1998 after celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary. She made her home in the Orrville-Wooster area all her life. A 1942 graduate of Orrville High School. She had worked for the Akron Brass Co. in the Production Office, Buckeye Aluminum Co. (Regal Ware) in the Sales Office, OARDC in the Treasurer's Office, and the United Telephone Co. in the Accounting Office.

She shared her faith and talents with the Congregation of the Northview Alliance Church, where she was a member. Her roles included teaching the kindergarten Sunday School Class for twenty-five years, served as a deaconess for several years, was the auditor of the church treasurer's books for twenty-eight years, was involved with the Church Christmas Program's and the Summer Vacation Bible School for many years.

She was a devoted wife, and a loving caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She enjoyed walking, baking (especially lots of different kinds of cookies at Christmas every year), and enjoyed gardening. Her passion was flower gardening.

Surviving are children, daughter Penny Pyers of Wooster, OH., a son, Thomas (Debi) Pyers of Daytona Beach, FL.; 2 grandchildren, Shanna (Brian) Bacher and Brett Pyers; great granddaughter, Annette "Annie" Bacher and a great grandson, James "Jamie" Bacher all of IL.; brother, Russell (Betty Ann) Forrer of Wooster and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded her in death, beside her husband, parents are sisters, Irene Lee, Arlene Milford, Alpha Bowers, Luella Phillips, an infant brother, Raymond Forrer; brothers in-laws, Harold Lee, Stephen Milford, Bill Phillips and Cecil Bowers.

Due to the current health concerns, a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.

A public Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.

The family would like to extend their appreciation for the care Edy received during her stay at Smithville Western Care Center.
