Obituary for Gary Paul Harper

Gary Paul Harper, age 74 of Orrville Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday July 14, 2022, at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare of Wooster with his sons by his side.

He was born in Wooster, Ohio on January 2, 1948, to Donald Forsythe and Jean Donata (Tersigne) Harper.

He was a 1966 graduate of Triway High School. Gary enlisted in the Navy after graduation and retired as a Senior Chief in 1993. He primarily worked on aircraft carriers and had many adventures traveling and living all around the world.

In 1971 he married Patricia “Lynn” Perry in Jacksonville, Florida and they had three sons.

After retirement from the Navy Gary engaged in a variety of occupations including as a stockbroker and as an instructor at Wayne College in Orrville. He also completed both a bachelors and master’s program in Human Resources and Operations Management from American InterContinental University. Most recently he was the owner of HK Gunsmiths of Orrville.

He was an outgoing and engaging man. He loved his county, his friends, and his family. He always had a story to share. He loved to be silly and enjoyed sharing a laugh. He especially enjoyed getting together with family, especially time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn of Orrville; sons Jason (Jennifer) of Gilbert Arizona; Jeremiah (Cristy) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; his adopted daughters, Isabelle Kasper and Melissa Wood both of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; five grandchildren, Lauren, Kailyn, Evan, Rosemarie, and Alexis; brothers Donald (Sandra) of Oak Harbor, Washington, David (Lenni Howell) of Jeromesville, Ohio and sister Barbara (Richard) of Plain City, Ohio.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and son Joshua.

The family will be hosting an informal and casual celebration of life gathering on Saturday July 30, 2022, 1:00 PM at the Miller Pavilion at Secrest Arboretum in Wooster.

Cremation has taken place.
