Obituary for Gayle Florence Welker (Pollock)
Gayle Florence Welker, (nee Pollock), age 91, of Wooster, entered into rest on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Burbank Parke Care Center in Burbank following a period of declining health.
She was born on January 8, 1931 in Coshocton County, Ohio.
The daughter of Robert Wagner and Mary Edna (Fletcher) Pollock and the youngest of six children.
She was raised on a farm near Shady Bend in eastern Coshocton County.
Gayle attended West Lafayette High School and Coshocton School of Cosmetology.
She then worked as a licensed beautician for over 30 years having operated salons near Sterling and Millersburg, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years the late M. Lynn Welker. They lived most of their adult lives in Wayne and Holmes Counties. They were married on June 18, 1950.
She is survived by her sons, Steven L. Welker of Columbus, Ohio, Ronald D. (Jovy) Welker of Seville, Ohio and Joe R. (Janell) Welker of Botkins, Ohio; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes, Gayle chose to be cremated and her cremated remains will be spread on the family tree farm in Tuscarawas County at a later date.
Memorial services will take place on Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Church Of The Cross, United Methodist Church, 5100 Cleveland Rd., in Wooster.
Visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) to services at the church.
A luncheon will then follow for family and friends at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Church of The Cross, United Methodist Church in Wooster.
