Gordon W. Saunders, 89, of Wooster, passed away June 29, 2022, at Lifecare Hospice, with his family by his side. Born September 27, 1932, in Rock Fish, Virginia, to Gordon Sr and Louise (nee Ramsey) Saunders, he joined the US Navy after high school.

Coming to Wooster in 1954 with a friend, Gordon met Betty Denny, and they were married in 1966. She survives. He worked in steel fabrication for various companies, working his way up from foreman to plant superintendent, retiring in 1995 after 41 years with Crown Steel.

Gordon enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, bowling, golf, and softball, was an avid fan of ball sports and NASCAR.

He was most proud to be a life member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

In addition to his wife Betty, Gordon is survived by his daughter Vicki (Dale) Gallapoo, step children Raymond (Pat) Denny, Garrie Van Scoder, and Ronda (Bobby) Wilson, brother Tommy (Cheryl) Saunders, brother-in-laws Dale Denny and Paul Simmons, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Rebecca Bowling, Joyce Marie, and Fran Simmons.
