Obituary for Jack Henley

Jack Dean Henley, age 91, of Shreve, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Ohio's Hospice Life Care in Wooster following a period of declining health. His loving family was by his side.

Jack was born on November 30, 1931 in Comfort, W.Va. to Clarence N. and Lottie (Payne) Henley.

He had proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from January 21, 1953 - February 16, 1954.

He moved to Wayne County from Ashtabula, Ohio over 40 years ago. He later moved his family to his current Holmes Country address.

Jack married JoAnn Preston in Jefferson, Ohio on December 23, 1970. She entered into rest on June 26, 2018.

He had previously worked as an oil well driller before retiring from Stahl/A Scott Fetzer Company in 1996, after many years of service.

He belonged to the local American Legion and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Wooster. He enjoyed hunting & fishing- especially with his buddy, Dennis. He mostly loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandson's and just relaxing on his front porch with his dogs.

Jack is survived by his children, Joe Henley of Orrville, John (Lisa) Henley of Wooster, and Jim (Teri) Henley of Shreve, Ohio; grandchildren, Joey, Blake, Brooke, Zachary (Sarah), Mallorie (Hayden), Brianna(Brandon) Henley, Shelby (Wes) Greenough, Trevor and Kyle Kick; 2 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Symere; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; along with his faithful canine companions "Shain and Mandy".

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he is preceded in death by his 10 siblings.

A committal service will take place on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, 2:30 pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville where military honors will be rendered.
