Obituary for James W. Daugherty Sr.

James W. Daugherty, Sr., age 79, of Shreve, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare in Wooster following a short period of declining health. His family was by his side.

He was born on December 8, 1942 in Wooster to William "Bill" and Deloris (Amos) Daugherty and has been a Wayne County Resident for all of his life. While growing up, James had helped his father on the family dairy farm. Following his graduation from high school, he obtained his Associates Degree in Accounting from Wooster Business College.

He married the love of his life, Esther Marie Fickes on August 9, 1964 in Fredericksburg. She survives.

Jim was very versatile. His most recent job being at Landscape by the Bag. He has also worked for Rubbermaid, Grissinger Trucking, Maxwell's Towing, Silver Brothers and drove semi truck. In addition he had his own business, Daugherty and Sons Services.

He enjoyed tinkering, as well as bowling, camping and going to car shows with the Wooster Cruisers where he was the last surviving original member. But most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Jim II (Tracey) Daugherty, of Wooster, Sharon (Bill) Edgell of Lakeville, Robert (Carrie) Daugherty of Grand Junction, Co., Christie (Teddy) Moses of Wooster; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren with 2 additional great-grandchildren on the way and with 1 great-grandchild who is in heaven; his 2 sisters, Elaine (Paul) Lehman and Yvonne (Ken)Wise, both of Wooster.

In addition to his parents and great-grandchild, he is preceded in death by a brother, Danny Daugherty and a niece, Hunter Smith.

Services will be Tuesday, (this evening) 7:00 p.m. at Wooster Nazarene Church, 3100 Oak Hill Rd., in Wooster with Pastor Nathan Ward officiating. A private interment will follow at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior ( 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) to the services at the church.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster is honored with serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to be made to the funeral home
for final expenses.
