He was born on June 21, 1938 in Dalton, Ohio to Paul and Lena (Beery) Eberly and has been a Wayne, Medina and Ashland County resident for all of his life. Except while serving his Country in Delaware State the first 2 years after marrying Norma Jean Steiner.

Jim made his life farming starting those years at the Melon Farm with his sister Mae and brother in law which was his wife’s brother Kenneth Steiner in Wayne County just a stones throw from where he took his last breath at the Doris and Roy Weaver Farm Estate. Gratitude to Doris Weaver and family for final day care. He was called to manage West Brook Farms for Chuck Farnsworth in early 70s where he with his faithful companion purchased their first farm “Opportunity Farms” in Medina County. When West Brook was developed he along with Norma by his side purchased Shady Lane Farm Homestead in Ashland County Ohio.

Purchased the “70 acres” in 1977, and his final farm “The Brown Farm” in 2001. Farmed the HB Austin farm for over 30 Years and recently the Bob Pointer farm. All the while farming along side his daughter after her purchase of the Abe and Lucille Miller Farm in 2000. And always basking in the pride of the business his son Keith and wife Shelly (Johnson) built with Eberly Hoof Care. His last joy was when Dylan his grandson asked to hunt the land. Knowing that Legacy is all we leave in this world.

He was a member of Grace Church of Wooster growing with the church for over 30 years greeting new members at the door while ushering them into the sanctuary. He sang in choirs as a young man in the Mennonite Communities. Head Usher at Wooster Mennonite Church and left seeking a large youth group for his children found Grace Brethren Church and continued to serve and Joined the church in 1976.
