Obituary for Jean L. Arnold (Roach)

Jean L. Arnold, age 88, of Orrville, passed away, Friday, November 1, 2019 at Accord Care Community (Brenn-Field Nursing Center) in Orrville following a period of declining health.

She was born on January 7, 1931 in Lodi to Otto and Gertrude (Trigg) Roach and was raised by Harry and Miriam (Liggett) Cook. She has been a Wayne County resident for most of her life.
She married Robert L. Arnold in Smithville on August 16, 1959. He passed away in March,1997.

Jean had previously worked for many businesses which included the former Apple Creek Developmental Center for 3 years and then with Ramseyer Farms in Smithville; for the USPS delivering mail; and then with the O.A.R.D.C as custodian for the next 19 years before retiring in 1991. Following retirement, she worked as a cook for the former Perky's World of Children in Wooster for 5 years.

She enjoyed doing crafts and traveling, but mostly loved spending time with her family.

She was a long-time member and was very active with the Smithville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Sally Ann (Robert) Dearth of Wooster, Tina L. (Jeff) Snure of Smithville and Dorothy M. (Lynn) Yoder of Orrville; grandchildren, Ann (Chad) Barker, Michael Dearth, Lynn (Tammy) Yoder, Paula (Nathan) Byrd, Krista Dearth, Michelle Hall, Rebecca Snure, Sharon and Conner Arnold; great-grandchildren, Zachary Barker, Olivia Yoder, Tristin Mattison, Cameron Yoder, Ian Mattison, Hallie Mattison, Alexander Landis, Graydon Hall, Jaidyn Dearth, Kiera Byrd, Logan Dearth, Kaela Byrd, Megan Arnold, Sincere Manuel, Xavier Manuel, Khalil Manuel and Braleigh Meaks; a great-great grandchild, Avia Mattison; and a brother, Charles Roach of Seattle, WA.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Robert "Phillip" Arnold; a grandson, Christopher Arnold and her 3 brothers, Arthur Wolpole, Ernest Harvey and Thomas Barrick and a sister, Carolyn (Chuck) Nyhart.

Services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m, at Smithville United Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn Beery officiating followed by interment at Smithville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 - 7 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster, 2284 Benden Dr., Wooster.
