Obituary for Joan Elizabeth Jewell (Little)

"Together Again"


Joan Elizabeth Jewell, of Wooster, passed away on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 in Wooster following a period of declining health.

Services will be Saturday, May 15th at 12:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster with Pastor Arnie Kaufman officiating followed by interment at Apple Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to: First Church of God, 1953 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.

She was born on May 10, 1931 in Apple Creek to John and Laura (Shank) Little and had been a Wooster resident for all of her life.

She married Philip Jewell on April 24, 1954. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2006.

She had worked at Frito-Lay and at Rubbermaid for 30 years before retiring in 1990.

She enjoyed traveling and spending winters at her son and daughter-in-laws beach house in S.C.; watching her many birds at her feeders and her flowers; playing cards with her 2 special great-grandchildren, Jessica and Michael. She mostly loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Diana (Dan) Montgomery of Oklahoma City, OK., Pamela Dupree of Wooster and Phyllis (Charles) Dice of Wooster; a son, Edward (Vickey) Wile of Atlanta, GA.; grandchildren, Laura (Robert) Wellon, Chip (Kathryn) Wile, Devin and Daniella Montgomery, Maria (David) Neatherly and Jason, Ashley, Cody and Chelsea Dice; nine great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Martha Hite; many nieces, nephews and her many special friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Nelson and Margaret Grimwood.

We will forever love and miss mom!
