Obituary for Katherine E. Lincoln (Heffern)

Kathrine E. Lincoln, age 98, of Ashland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2020at Brethren Care Village in Ashland.

She was born on November 1, 1921 near Franklin, Pennsylvania, to Emery and Lillian (McKay) Heffern where she lived on a farm and went with her father to sell milk and eggs in town.

She was the oldest of nine children, four brothers (Willard, Gordon, William and Walter), and four sisters (Helen, Alice, Lois and Mary Lee).

She married Charles R. Lincoln on December 31, 1937. They pastored several churches in the 1940's, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, serving in the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection including Canton McKinley (19 years) and Copley Maple Valley. She served as a pastor's wife, Sunday School Teacher, Junior Church leader, Women's Missionary Society President, pianist and custodian. He gift was truly hospitality and her grace was seen by all.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Holmes of Erie, PA., and a son, Robert (Kathy) Lincoln of Shreve, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charles R. Lincoln and her son, Charles R. Lincoln, Jr.

Mrs. Lincoln is also survived by eight grandchildren, Robin, Carey, Sherry Lee, Grant Lincoln, Gregory Lincoln, Melody Vogel, Gene Holmes, David Lincoln and James Lincoln and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be Sunday at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster from 6 - 8 p.m.

A service will be held on Monday, 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Wooster with Rev. Joseph Smith, her pastor from the Hartville Wesleyan Methodist Church and Rev. Raymond Adams, pastor of the Greer Wesleyan Church.

Interment will follow at Peters Cemetery in Cochranton, Pennsylvania.
