Obituary for Lauresa Durham (Shuey)

Lauresa Ann Durham, age 62 of Wooster; a loving wife, mother, grandmother and faithful friend to all those who knew her, went to be with our Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare in Wooster after a battle with metastatic melanoma cancer.

Lauresa was born in Wichita, KS on June 12, 1958 to Robert, Jr. and Lillie (Chasteen) Shuey .

After receiving her associates in Electrical Engineering, she married John R. Durham on September 23, 1989 in Sherman, TX. He survives.

The family then moved to Wooster in 1990, she babysat while being a homemaker for several years, worked at Rubbermaid as a secretary for 5 years and has worked for the Western-Reserve Insurance Group as a Legal Assistant in Wooster for the past 23 years.

She was a devoted member of the Wooster Church of the Nazarene, she helped start and lead the Women's Ministry, which was a huge part of her heart; starting and leading "Apples of Gold" and "Dinner for 8" ministries. She loved women and leading them to come to know Jesus. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, kayaking, camping and traveling; loved making quilts especially for her grandchildren; and playing the piano. She mostly loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her father of Whitesboro, Tx. and beloved husband, she is survived by her children, Ami K. (Matthew) Hammond and Lori (Luis) Colon all of Wooster, Andy (Catherine) Henson of Redding, CA., ; Grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Hammond, Ryan, Caden and Alle Colon all of Wooster and Liam Henson of Redding, CA.; a sister, Gwen (John) Kirk of Sherman, TX. and her brothers, Robert "Bob" III (Lisa) Shuey of Albertville, AL. and Gary (Karen) Shuey of Moore, OK; her best friends, Kim & Karl Ellis of Wooster and numerous nieces and nephews and many "adopted family" and friends.

In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Isabella Ann-Marie Colon.

Visitation will be at Wooster Nazarene church on Friday, May 7th from 5 - 8 p.m.

Services will be Saturday, May 8th, 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Nathan Ward officiating followed by graveside services at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
