Obituary for Loice Ann Oreno (Speck)

Loice Ann Oreno, age 78, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 17, 1942 in Wooster to Lester Franklin and Hazel Lavonne (Hodgen) Speck.

Loice Ann graduated from Wooster High School in 1960. She then attended Wittenberg University where she graduated in 1964 with her Bachelors in Education and later received her Master's Degree from the University of Phoenix.

She married David Keith Oreno and celebrated their 40 years of marriage before he went home to be with the Lord on January 16, 2015.

She had lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for 40 years where she taught school for 37 years. In 1999 she then moved back to Wooster to help take care of her parents.

Loice Ann was a very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. She always enjoyed the many callings and opportunities she was given through the church.

She was a very kind, patient and strong woman who always kept a positive outlook on life and mostly loved spending time with her family. She was hard working and the best teacher to her many students. She was dedicated to her job growing young minds. She touched many lives in many ways throughout the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Challi (Jared) Hankins and her 3 grandchildren, Alora, Ariel and Logan all of Wooster; her dear friend, Mary Hankins, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and host of friends.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she is preceded in death by her aunt, Evelyn Fulk.


The family will receive friends (while practicing social distancing and the use of masks) on Monday, October 26 from 10:00 - 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster.

A private service with interment will then proceed at New Pittsburg Cemetery in Wooster at the convenience of the family.
