Obituary for Martha Lee Snyder (Smith)

Martha Lee (Smith) Snyder, age 93, of Wooster passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2020 at her residence in Wooster following a period of declining health.

She was born on September 14, 1926 in Grantsville, W.Va. to Clarence S. and Nell M. (Holpp) Smith.

She was a long time member of Wayne Presbyterian Church in Wooster.

Martha enjoyed sewing, baking, raising flowers and gardening. For many years, the fruits of her labor were entered in the Wayne County Fair where she received many ribbons for her accomplishments.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Snyder, Sr., whom she married on June 10, 1945. He died on November 30, 1986.

Martha is survived by her three children, David (Carol) Snyder of Burbank, Linda (Roger) Shiplett of Wooster and Jamie (Jody) Snyder of Wooster; seven grandchildren, Renee (Michael) Ford, Mike Snyder, Jason (Meghan) Shiplett, Joshua (Candace) Snyder, Julie (Russ) Stolcals, Jaci (Adam) Pitts, Jeffrey (Rachel) Snyder; fifteen great-grandchildren, Benjamin Ford, Lucas and Nellie Shiplett, Gavin, Marley and Mia Snyder, Emilee, Trent and Lane Stolcals, Jud, Jax and Jep Pitts, Hayden, Corbin and Tristan Snyder.

Martha is also survived by one brother, Donald (Louise) Smith of Wartburg, Tenn. and two sisters, Emma J. Garich of Vincent, Oh. and Madylene (Allen) Hamrick of Parkersburg, W.Va.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Herbert, Lester and Pete Smith and one sister, Maxine Powell.

Funeral services will be held at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster, Friday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev, Bob Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.

Calling hours will be one hour prior to the services from (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) at the funeral home.
