Obituary for Melissa A. Doan (Brown)

Melissa Doan, age 53, of Wooster, entered joyfully into the Lord's presence on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital. Her family was by her side.

Melissa was born in Sweetwater, TX. to Darrel David and Deverise (Crouch- Ohre) Brown.

She married Stephen O. Doan on February 20, 1993 in Mansfield.

She moved from Mansfield to Wooster in 1993 and became a stay-at-home mother who raised and homeschooled her children for over 20 years.

After raising her children, Melissa went back to school to complete her BSN Degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and then worked as a Registered Nurse for Dunlap Family Physicians in Orrville.

She was a member of the Church Of The Saviour in Wooster; enjoyed gardening and traveling but mostly loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Melissa embodied the endless love and compassion of Jesus Christ. She was a bright light to all who knew her. Melissa lived wholeheartedly in her assurance of hope in the Lord, as it is written in 1 Peter 1:13: “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.” As she often said, Melissa lived the most blessed life this world had to offer.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Devra D. Doan of Columbus, Oh., Daniel D. (Elizabeth Hickman) Doan of Granville, Oh., Hannah J. (Michael R.) Morgan of LaGrange, IL., and Evan C. Doan of Wooster; grandchildren, Ellory, Ariana and Josephine; sisters, Tanya (Brian) Zeigler of Willard, Oh., Amanda Licon of Pueblo, Co.; a brother, Darrel Brown, II of Mansfield, Oh.; maternal grandparents, Mohee (Jack) Barnes of Tx.; loving step-mother, Livonia Brown of Mansfield, Oh. and a loving step-father, Eddie Ohre of Abilene, Tx.; her in-laws, Gilbert Doan of Wooster and Janice Doan of Narberth, Pa.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr. in Wooster and open to the public.
