Obituary for Raymond L. Barker Sr.

"TOGETHER AGAIN"

Raymond L. Barker, Sr., age 71, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2022 at his residence following a period of declining health. His loving family was by his side.

He was born on September 1, 1951 in Millersburg, Ohio to Roy Russell Sr. and Betty Marie (Berry) Barker and has been a Wayne County resident for most of his life.

He married Pamela Sue Long on February 16, 1974 in Wooster. She went home to be with the Lord on December 9, 2018.

Raymond had started working as a Press Operator with the Gerstenslager / Artiflex Manufacturing Co. where he had worked for the last 46 years before retiring in June, 2022.

He previously belonged to Wooster Moose and Eagles Clubs; enjoyed fishing, music, working on puzzles and was an avid reader; he loved food and was known to have had a "sweet tooth. He was a true sports fan of all the Ohio sports teams including Ohio State and Cleveland sporting events; He was very family oriented and mostly loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Raymond Barker, Jr., Lisa Marie Ferguson and Robert E. Barker all of Wooster; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; his siblings, Roy Russell (Marilyn) Barker of Wooster, Chuck Barker of Arizona, Dave (Beverly) Bevington Of Wooster and Thomas "Tom" Barker of Wooster; and his best friend, Dave (Michelle) Manis of Wooster.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Irene Barker and a sister, Clara Martin.

Memorial services had taken place on Thursday, November 3, 2022, 7:00 PM at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster with Pastor Dave Purdy officiating.

Visitation for family and friends was one hour prior (6:00 - 7:00 PM) at the funeral home.
