Obituary for Robert Allen Baughman

Robert Allen Baughman, age 85, of Orrville, entered into rest, Friday, March 12, 2021 at Shady Lawn Assisted Living in Dalton following a period of declining health.

Robert was born on March 4, 1936 in Smithville to Harry and Laura (Gambier) Baughman and has been a lifelong resident of the Wayne County area.

He married Martha Smith Lowers in Wooster in 1990. She survives.

He had worked for the former Ingersoll-Rand Co. in Orrville before his retirement after many years of service.

Robert was known to be a "jack of all trades" and especially with any types of electrical work; he also previously had owned and operated a bar in Shreve; was a member of a county band where he played the drums; enjoyed camping, fishing and loved to spend time in the outdoors; was a race car driver and mechanic ; every year, he and his wife spent the winter months in Florida until they were unable to travel due to his declining Health.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Penny (Jim) Helms of Orrville, Allen (Carol) Baughman of Orrville, Debbie Baughman of Wooster, Cindy (Jim) Zimmerman of Orrville, Joey (Tina) Baughman of Ansted, W. Va. and Becky (Joe) Wood of Racine, Ohio, Deb (George) DeLaney of Apple Creek, Mark Lowers of Wooster, Becky (Kevin) Numbers of Va. and Connie (Jerry) Herman of Fredericksburg; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Marhefka of Burbank and Leah Peters of Copley, Ohio; many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, Marvin Brueck that helped to raise him; children, Bobby Baughman, Mike Lowers and his 12 siblings.

Due to COVID-19 there will be no public services.

There will be a private family celebration of his life.

Custer-Glenn Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wooster is honored with serving the family.

The family would like to convey their gratitude to both Shady Lawn and Crossroads Hospice for their excellent care and attention given to Robert while in their care.
