Obituary for Roger A. Heimberger

Roger A. Heimberger, age 73, of Wooster, passed away, Monday, July 13, 2020 at Life Care Hospice in Wooster where he was surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 1, 1947 in Mansfield to Kenneth and Bessie (Strang) Heimberger.

Roger served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany as a Draftsman during the Vietnam Conflict from April, 1966 - March 1968.

He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Hoff, on November 23, 1968 in Loudonville. She survives.

Roger started out his career working as a Draftsman for the Flxible Bus Co. in Loudonville and then with the Terex Division of G.M. in Hudson. He then became a Designer for the Delphi G.M. Division in Dayton and then in Auburn Hills, MI. He completed his career at Valeo manufacturing in Auburn Hills, MI. before retiring after many years of service.

Following his retirement, he worked for Diversified Transportation in Wooster where he had the opportunity to help with driving others throughout the area while forming lifelong friendships.

He was a lifelong Cleveland Indians baseball fan who also enjoyed baseball card collecting and going to card shows. He and his son Ryan traveled to 17 different ballparks across the country to watch the Indians play. He also enjoyed playing Euchre and was described as being an eternal optimist. He loved spending time with his family and especially watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by a daughter, Lori (Tony) Niro of Wooster and a son, Ryan (April) Heimberger of Galloway; grandchildren, Connor and Lucas Niro of Wooster; a brother, Gene (Shirley) Heimberger of Loudonville; sisters, Donna Martinelli of Columbus and Monna Sparks of Port Orange, Fl.; 15 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and friends.

His parents preceded him in death.

It was the family’s wish, to have private services and burial at Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville, Ohio with Pastor Shari Ayers officiating. There will be no public services or calling hours.
