Obituary for Roman Troyer Jr.

Roman Troyer, Jr., age 75, of Orrville, slipped away and into the Lord's presence on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at his residence following a period of declining health. His family was by his side.

Roman was born on December 6, 1945 in Millersburg, Ohio to Roman and Susie (Gingerich) Troyer.

After graduating from high school in Berlin, Ohio, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return, he traveled out west to Albuquerque, New Mexico, After 10 years of being there, he then came back to Ohio and settled in the Wooster area.

Roman was a jack-of-all- trades, who worked a variety of jobs through the years. He was talented and skilled in many areas, but his God-given gift was in woodworking. Whatever the project, he did it with expertise and utmost attention to detail. Family and friends have been blessed by many priceless treasures. He was happy in his little workshop, knee deep in wood shavings and listening to country music. That's where he designed and built his beautiful hand made guitars.

He had a life-long love of music, and was well known in the area as a member of an award winning country band “Country Buddies”.

He was a kind, laid back, unassuming guy with a dry sense of humor that made you laugh till you cried.

Roman was a member of Highland Church of God in Wooster where he served in many capacities.

Remaining to cherish his memory is his family, Tami Connock (Curtis Wilson), Bobby Connock and his children, Kevin Troyer, Travis Troyer and Alyssa Connock all of Wooster; his soul-mate and best friend for over 40 years, Bonnie J. Connock of Orrville; sisters, Joy (Landon) Walker of Doylestown, Ohio and Roseanne Hite of Navarre, Ohio; nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Sherman & Milo Troyer and a sister, Rhoda Jewel.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster.
