Russell F. "Rusty" Warner, Jr., age 70 of Apple Creek, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, September 7, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Akron following a short time of declining health.

He was born in Akron, Ohio on June 16, 1950 to Russell F. Warner, Sr. and Melodie Ann (Johnson) Warner. He lived in Naples, FL before moving to Rittman. In 1992 he moved from Rittman to Apple Creek where he spent the rest of his days at his beloved group home.

He attended Nick Amster Workshop and Midwest Innovation in Wooster. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and then of Joy Baptist Church.

He participated in the Special Olympics and won many swimming medals, had a passion for traveling, and was an avid daily reader of the Bible.

He is survived by his siblings, Melodie Ann (Glen Williams) of Olmsted Falls, OH, Twila Ann (Richard Largent) of Leesburg, FL, and Daryl Edward Warner of Copley, OH; half-brothers Don and Guy Dobbins; half-sister Twila Anne Zimmerman-Stanley and Jack Lucas of Camarillo, CA; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and sadly missed by his caregivers, Lisa Hess and Linda Sanders of Midwest Innovations along with his good friend Bobby Chupp.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his half-sister, Sandi Eisenberg, and his housemate, Wilford "Willie" Hofstetter.

Services will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster, OH. Burial will follow at Apple Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

To all of Rusty,s siblings, family and friends.
Rusty was always smiling and talkative and friendly to all. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers will be with all of you.

It just doesn't feel real. I will forever miss our dear friend, Russ. He was always ready to greet me with a smile, and have a conversation that would start my day off in such a cheerful way. I am sorry we did not get to meet earlier in life but to know I have more siblings was a God send. Love ❤️ 💔 you little brother. Now you are with mom.
