She was born on February 28th, 1948 in Indiana to Ivan Whaley and Marie Elizabeth (Gulley) Whaley of Dillsboro, Indiana.

Most people knew her as Cher. She had very fond memories and stories of her time as a dispatcher and auxiliary officer with the Lexington Ohio Police Department. She lived the majority of her adult life in the Mansfield Ohio and surrounding areas. She married her husband and best friend (David) in Bucyrus Ohio on August 17th, 1990. She was an avid animal lover of all kinds, enjoyed collecting angels, knitting/crocheting, and could always be found playing video games. She mostly loved cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband David W. Christian where he remains in the Shreve area with their family. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Betty Jean Tackett of Ohio, Lee Ann Wigton of Mansfield, OH, Tara (Jeff) Heber of Florida, Douglas Christian of Mansfield, OH, and Hope (Darrell) Griffin of Shreve, OH where she had resided; 9 grandchildren, Lawson, April, AJ, Dustin, Macenzie, Iasic, Miranda, Katelyn, and Nathanial; 11 great children; sisters, Alice Bascom (Ron Ring) of Middletown OH, Linda Zwick of Greenfield Indiana, and Debbie (Rick) O'Neal of Dillsboro OH; her close family friends, Randi Boyer and Konnie Nelson of Mansfield Ohio area and her faithful feline companion, "Mr. Be Be".

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Marie Richie.
