Obituary for Shirley M. Painter (Owens)
Shirley M. Painter, age 84, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster following an unexpected brief illness.
She was born on February 4, 1938 in Filbert, W.Va. to William, Jr. and Minnie C. (Trivett) Owens and has been a Wayne County resident since 1953.
She married Shelby H. Painter in Charleston, W. Va. in 1955. He went home to be with the Lord on December 3, 1997.
Shirley previously attended the First Church of God in Wooster; enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Shelby Lee (Christine) Painter of Wooster, Ronald Scott (Terri) Painter of Apple Creek, Kathryn Lynne (Fred) Cassel, Judy A. Painter and Kimberly Christine Brown all of Wooster; grandchildren, Brandon Painter, Chuck Cassel (Thoa), Brittany (Jarrett) Ault, Chloe (Chris) Blake, Michelle (Josh) Helms and Kiefer (Kia) Painter; great-grandchildren, Maya, Ben, Chelbe Lea, Fabian, Amaraha, Carisma, Hazley, Alaina, Caroline, Colton, Aden, Emma, Ellie, Wesley and Beckham; a sister, Faye (Richard) Vaughn of North Ridgeville, Ohio and a brother, William H. Owens of Sebring, FL.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Debbie Marie Painter, an infant sister, sisters Irene E. Vestel and Bertha Domer; a brother, Charles Owens..
Services will be Thursday , 1:30 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating followed by burial at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wooster.
Visitation will take place 2 hours prior to services on Thursday ( 11:30 - 1:30 p.m.) at the funeral home.
