Obituary for William R. "Bill" Daugherty

William R. "Bill"  Daugherty
William R. "Bill" Daugherty, age 95, of Shreve, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Holmes County Home in Holmesville following a period of declining health.

He was born on April 20, 1923 in Flint Springs, Ky. to Peter and Rebecca (Hines) Daugherty.

He married Deloris Evelyn Amos on February 24, 1942 in Wooster, She entered into rest on December 3, 2012.

He moved to Wayne County in 1928 and was a passionate dairy and grain farmer for 70 years. He was also known for his love of Ford tractors.

Bill was a long time member of Wooster Church of The Nazarene where he helped build 3 different church buildings. He also held and served in many capacities most notable was Sunday School teacher to the Teen class for 25 years. He gave them many memorable hayrides on his farm.

He loved spending time with his wife and large extended family.

Surviving are his children, James (Esther) Daugherty, Elaine (Paul) Lehman, Yvonne (Ken) Wise, Dan and Sherry Daugherty all of Wooster; 12 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ira Daugherty, an infant sister, sisters, Ethel Bonewitz and Edna Faught; a brother, Burgess Daugherty and sister, Marie Woodhull.

Services will be Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at Wooster Church of The Nazarene, with Pastor Nathan Ward officiating followed by interment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Dr., in Wooster.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to either: Wooster Church Of The Nazarene Building Fund, 3100 Oak Hill Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691 or Holmes County Home, 7260 State Route 83, Holmesville, Ohio 44633.
